GREG
LEWIS
returns
to The
Beverly Hills Playhouse, Aug. 11th through S
ept.
9th. with his critically acclaimed, one-man show, “Some
Greeks Are Not In the Restaurant Business" where he gives
a “no holds barred” insight into his growing up in
the streets of Chicago. He talks about going on the road at the
age of 15, against his Greek parent's wishes, as a harmonica player with the world famous Jerry
Murad's "Harmonicats.” Then he and his life long
friend, Gus Christy, formed a comedy team and as Lewis
& Christy, "The Mad Greeks”, they played all
the top hotels, night clubs and television shows. They also made numerous appearances
on such TV shows as: Ed Sullivan, Hollywood Palace, Merv Griffin
and Mike Douglas.
Greg
can be seen guest starring on “The Gilmore Girls” and
"The Howie Mandell Show", and also in his recurring role
of: Baron Von Troken in Garry
Marshall’s "Princess
Diaries 1 & 2" , starring Ms. Julie Andrews. In addition,
Greg is Herman, a deli owner in "Love
And A Bullet", starring the rap star Anthony “Treach”
Criss.
You’ll
remember Greg as Tino, the Greek Chef, opposite Al Pacino
and Michelle Pfeiffer in the Garry
Marshall feature, "Frankie
and Johnny". He was in tw
o
more of Garry’s films, "Exit To Eden" and "Dear
God". Greg was also in the Kevin
Spacey/Jeff Bridges
film, "K-PAX" and the Disney movie "Max Keeble's
Big Move", and is currently appearing as Vladmir Gargarin
in the sci-fi series "Mars And Beyond" for the Cyber SciFi
Network on the Internet.
Theatre
wise: Greg co starred at The Matrix Theatre, in Ellio
t
Shoeman’s play, "Moment in the Sun"directed by Mark
Taylor, starred in his one-man show, “Confessions
of a Greek Criminal” directed by Robert Walden, at Garry
Marshall’s Falcon Theatre, and in the SRO hit of the 2001
Season, “The Time of Your Life” as Nick opposite
John Glover, and under the direction of Gene Reynolds, at The Skylight
Theatre.
Finally,
after the team broke up, Greg moved to the West Coast and focused
on acting. As a member of Milton Katselas’ Master Class, he
has distilled his many talents, becoming an actor armed to do a
variety of roles—comedic, tragic, character, et al. He is
also a member of Theatre
West , and Yarmy's Army.
